As we near Golf Canadas 2026 Amateur Championship season, I wanted to share information with you regarding the 2026 Canadian All Abilities Championship, presented by BDO contested at Hylands Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario from August 4 – 7, 2026.
\nThe champion of the 2026 Men’s and Women’s overall gross stroke play champions from the Canadian All Abilities Championship, presented by BDO will receive the following exemptions:
\n? 2027 Canadian All Abilities Championship
\n? 2027 U.S. Adaptive Open (if eligible)<\/p>\n
New for the 2026 Canadian All Abilities Championship
\nTEE ASSIGNMENTS
\nWill be based on Gender and Sport Class. Tee assignments will be released and shared in advance of the Championship.<\/p>\n
SPORT CLASSES
\nEDGAs sport classes reflect the diversity of golfers with disabilities and currently uses 9 classifications for players with physical, intellectual, or visual impairments:<\/p>\n
1. Intellectual 1 ? Players with intellectual impairment and\/or Downs Syndrome. \n2. Intellectual 2 ? Players with ASD (autism spectrum disorder).
\n3. Standing 1 ? Standing golfers with severe imbalance or limb impairments.
\n4. Standing 2 ? Moderate imbalance but can stand and swing using prosthetics.
\n5. Standing 3 ? Mild imbalance, but some movement or strength limitations.
\n6. Sitting 1 ? Poor control of torso and no independent standing balance.
\n7. Sitting 2 ? Good torso control but cannot stand independently.
\n8. Vision 1 ? Completely blind.
\n9. Visual 2 ? Significant visual impairment.
\nThese classes help ensure fair competition by grouping players with comparable levels of functional
\nability.
