2018 WORLDS BLIND GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS AND ITALIAN OPEN

October 1 to 5th-2018  ROME, ITALY

2018 WORLDS BLIND GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS AND ITALIAN OPEN….There were 15 countries represented and approximately 50 visually impaired players along with their coaches attending the event. Each country sent anywhere from a 1 person competitor to 6 person team.  It was special to see so many talented Blind golfers from all over the world.

The tournament was played at the beautiful Sheraton Parco de’ Medici Golf Course in Rome.  A par 72 course that was challenging and had some very interesting challenges for the blind golfer to contend with.

The Italian Open was held on the Monday & Tuesday with the presentation of  awards and banquet after play was completed.

The World Matches were held on the Thursday & Friday for those that qualified in their respective countries with awards presented after the completion of play.

The World Blind Golf Championships were won by one of our young Canadian B3 Blind golfers Kiefer Jones, from Calgary who shot a 74 & 77 for a World record score. What an amazing young person.

We want to thank the Italian Blind Golf Association for hosting the event and looking forward to the 2020 Worlds Blind Golf Championships in Pretoria, South Africa.

ISPS HANDA – 2018 USA BLIND GOLF CHAMPIOSHIPS

ISPS HANDA – 2018 USA BLIND GOLF CHAMPIOSHIPS

What a great tournament in Green Valley, Tucson, Arizona with approximately 100+ people attending from all over the World, Ireland, Israel, Canada and the USA enjoying the Sun and friendships. The tournament was held on April 6th to 8th at the Haven Golf Course in Green Valley and the event was supported by many sponsors and the local Lions Clubs. Those Lion volunteers were just the best, so amazing. The winners in each category in the B1 – B2  and B3 all came away with wonderful tropies and gifts. The top B1 prize went to Zohar Sharon from Israel and our Canadian members Jeff Skemer from Kelowna and Doug Penner from Winnipeg also won trophies.

WESTERN CANADIAN BLIND GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

WESTERN CANADIAN BLIND GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS – JULY 2ND TO JULY 6TH. 2017 – SASKATOON

What a successful Blind golf event it was at the Western Canadian Championships in Saskatoon. Over 80 golfers were in attendance and “The Legends” Golf Course in Warman, Sask. Hosted the event.  Of the many winners Keifer Jones, from Calgary, a 24 year old B3 Blind golfer broke the World Record  for blind golfers with a -4 under 68 from the White Tees.  I am so proud of Keifer and what he accomplished.   Another student Josh also from the Calgary area shot a 95 from the white Tees.  He is such an inspiration to other golfers.  You say 95 not bad for a blind golfer. Click on the video below….Josh is actually Blind, has a Disabled left arm and a prosthetic left leg…he swings with one hand,  You think you can’t golf ..come out for lessons with me…”You can do it.”
